Middle College Connection: GSA
One of my favorite communities I have engaged in at Middle College is the Genders and Sexualities Alliance (GSA). GSA supports the LGBTQ communities broadly, but also at Middle College. It has built connections between me and other people at Middle College.

We had so much fun at Thanksgayving and the holigay party. Both were pun-filled events for people in Middle College to have a good time and recognize the LGBT Community. Members of the GSA brought LGBT pun dishes to be shared. I brought apple bi (an apple pie with colored sugar to make the bi pride flag). Another favorite dish of mine was Lesbagna (lesbian lasagna). Through GSA I made many friends including the creator of the Lesbanga , Aly, and we ended up starting a D&D campaign with other students from Middle College.
The most meaningful event I participated in with GSA at middle college was Day of Silence. On April 12th, GSAs across the country are silent for a day highlight the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ people at school, then hold a breaking of the silence event. I helped a lot with the planning and the decorations in preparation for Day of Silence and prepared a speech for the Breaking of the Silence. The most important part for me was at 11 am PST GSAs across the country were silent together for 3 minutes, then broke their silence. It was very powerful when the GSA and other students sat in the hallway together. There was an incredible feeling of connection and being united in a moment of remembrance and reflection.
